Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the CoffeePrices website and everything published on it (the “Service”). By opening or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Provider

The Service is provided by Dr. Jan Philip Wahle and Lars Benedikt Kaesberg, Siedlungsweg 24, 37124 Rosdorf, Germany. Contact: [email protected]. Full provider identification is in the Imprint.

2. What the Service is

CoffeePrices is a free, advertising-financed price-comparison site. It retrieves coffee listings from Amazon, reads net weights, capsule counts and pack sizes out of them, and ranks the listings by a computed unit price: price per kilogram of coffee for beans, ground and instant coffee, price per capsule, pad or drip bag for single-serve coffee, with the price of a kilogram of the coffee inside capsules shown beside it. How that is done is described in the methodology.

Nespresso, Vertuo, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Keurig and K-Cup, Tassimo, Senseo, Lavazza A Modo Mio and other names of capsule systems, roasters and their products are trademarks of their respective owners. We use them only to identify the products listed and the machines a capsule is sold for (nominative use). Their use implies no affiliation with, endorsement by or sponsorship from any of them; we are not affiliated with Nestlé, Keurig Dr Pepper, JDE Peet’s, Lavazza or any other owner, and we are not a manufacturer or roaster of any product listed here.

The Service is informational. It is a reading of publicly available listing data, produced automatically, and offered on a best-effort basis. You are not required to register, and no account, contract or ongoing obligation arises between you and us from browsing the site.

3. No warranty for prices, weights, counts or rankings

Prices change constantly and what Amazon shows at checkout is what applies. Figures on this site are snapshots from the last synchronisation, not offers, not quotes, and not a guarantee that a product is available at that price, in that pack size, or at all.

Net weights, capsule counts, pack sizes and the coffee per capsule are read automatically from listing text written by sellers and roasters. A weight is the label’s net weight of coffee; a listing that states only a gross or shipping weight gets no price per kilogram. A count is the pieces the listing states; where a pack count can be read more than one way, the figure is marked with a tilde (~) and can be hidden. The price per kilogram of the coffee inside capsules uses the coffee per capsule the listing states, or else a typical figure for the capsule system, which is marked ~; capsules with milk powder get none. Parsing can misread, listings can be wrong at the source, and a computed unit price is only ever as good as the label behind it.

To the extent permitted by law, we therefore give no warranty that any price, net weight, capsule or pad count, coffee-per-capsule figure, kilo-equivalent, ranking, availability indication, rating, currency conversion or derived metric is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose, and no warranty that any category, listing, country or feature will remain available. Verify anything that matters on the product page itself before you buy. Section 15 governs liability; nothing in this section limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

4. No health, caffeine or compatibility advice

CoffeePrices compares prices. It makes no statement about the caffeine content, nutrition or health effects of any product, and nothing on it is medical, nutritional or dietary advice or a health claim. It does not tell you whether a capsule, pad or drip bag works in your machine: “compatible” is the seller’s statement, and whether a product suits your machine, your diet or your purpose is for you to check with the machine’s maker, the seller or a professional before you buy.

5. We are not the seller

We do not sell, roast, ship, import, distribute or stock any product shown on this site. Every purchase is a contract between you and Amazon or the respective third-party seller, on their terms. Weights, counts, origin, organic, fair-trade and roast claims, best-before dates and compatibility statements are statements of that seller or roaster, not ours. Payment, delivery, returns, warranty, food safety, labelling and any claim arising from a product or from its use in a machine are matters for that seller and manufacturer, not for us.

6. Advertising and affiliate links

Outbound product links carry an Amazon Associates tag and are marked as advertising. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no additional cost to you. That is how the Service is financed. Rankings are computed from the data alone; placement is not for sale, and no manufacturer, brand or seller pays for position, inclusion or exclusion.

7. Permitted use

You may use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, and you may link to it freely. Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to crawl, index, summarise and quote individual figures with attribution and a link to the page they came from — that is the point of publishing a number nobody else computes, and our robots.txt says so.

You may not, without our prior written consent:

8. Our rights in the site and the data

The Service, its category model, its normalisation methodology, the metrics it computes and the compiled collection of listings behind them are protected by copyright and by the sui generis database right under Sections 87a et seq. UrhG (Directive 96/9/EC). We are the maker of that database. Except for the permitted uses in Section 7, all rights are reserved. Nothing on this site grants a licence to any trademark.

9. Third-party content and trademarks

Amazon, the Amazon logo and related marks are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Brand and product names are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used for identification only. Their appearance here does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from those owners.

10. External links

The Service links to external sites, principally Amazon marketplaces. We have no influence over their content, terms or privacy practices, do not adopt them as our own, and accept no liability for them. Once you follow an outbound link, that site’s terms and privacy policy apply.

11. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided free of charge on a reasonable-effort basis. We give no uptime guarantee and are not responsible for outages caused by Amazon, our hosting, our upstream data providers, your network, or other services outside our control. We may at any time add, modify, suspend, restrict or discontinue individual categories, countries, metrics, features or the Service as a whole, including for technical, legal, commercial or data-licensing reasons — for example if a data source changes its terms. You have no claim to the provision, restoration or continuation of any particular feature, figure, category or country.

12. Beta and experimental figures

Some figures are explicitly marked as estimates, derived values, or experimental. They are provided as-is, may change or disappear, and should be treated as an indication rather than a result.

13. Your conduct

You are responsible for the searches you run and for what you do with what you find. Do not use the Service to build, verify or distribute claims about products that you have not checked at the source.

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold us harmless from third-party claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms — in particular a breach of Section 7 — your unlawful use of the Service, or your infringement of third-party rights through use of the Service or its data. For consumers (Verbraucher within the meaning of Section 13 BGB) this applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer-protection law and only where the claim is attributable to your fault.

15. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and under guarantees we have expressly given. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal duties), and that liability is limited to foreseeable damages typical for a service of this kind. All further liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

Because the Service is provided free of charge, our liability is in any case governed by Sections 521 and 599 BGB where those provisions apply. Subject to the preceding paragraph and to the extent not already excluded, our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Service or these terms is capped, per affected user and per twelve-month period, at one hundred euros (EUR 100).

In particular, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for a purchase decision made on the basis of a price, weight, capsule count or ranking shown here, for a price that changed between synchronisation and checkout, for a listing that was misparsed, unavailable or withdrawn, for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost profits or savings. Section 4 applies to any decision about caffeine, health or whether a capsule fits your machine. This allocation of liability also applies in favour of our legal representatives and any persons acting on our behalf.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the Service or in the law. The current version is always available at this URL, and the date at the top says when it last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. Where a place of jurisdiction may lawfully be agreed, it is Göttingen, Germany.

We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. The former European Commission online dispute resolution platform was discontinued on July 20, 2025.

18. Severability

If any provision of these terms is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. The invalid provision is replaced by the statutory rule that comes closest to its commercial purpose.
